The trio led by Slaven Ljujić, a Montenegrin drummer and percussionist, performed at the jazz festival in Noyon, France, on October 14th at the Cultural Center. The trio consisted of Ivan Marović on guitar, Slaven Ljujić on drums, Tin Džaferović on double bass was joined by the esteemed French saxophonist of younger generation, Batist Herbin. It’s worth noting that Herbin previously played with Ljujić’s ensemble in April at JAM festivals 2023 (Jazz Appreciation Month in Montenegro) in Podgorica and Cetinje, as well as at the Jazz Factory Festival in Bitola and the Couleurs Jazz Radio festival within the traditional music fair “Musicora” in Paris at the end of May.

The performance of the Slaven Ljujić Trio in Noyon resulted from a collaborative project among cities, jazz organizations, and festivals that are members of the Reseau Jazz France-Balkans network: Jazz Art from Podgorica, Nishville in Niš, Syri Blu in Fier, and Jazz Factory Festival in Bitola, along with numerous French jazz organizations from Dijon, Paris, and Chambéry. The Noyon Jazz Festival is a new candidate for joining this network.

The Jazz festival in Noyon took place from October 12th to 15th, 2023, showcasing around ten jazz groups and artists, including the Xenos group led by drummer Srđan Ivanović, Daniel Zimerman, composer, and trombonist, double bassist Damian Nueva, among others. Besides the concerts, the festival also hosted online workshops for children and teenagers, attracting audiences from all around the world.
