JAM 2013 – The Spirit and Rhythms of Jazz
The month of Jazz jazz begins: Podgorica, Cetinje, Kotor, Tivat, Herceg Novi, Nikšić,
Berane and Pljevlja are the spots on Montenegro map of this year’s Jazz Appreciation Month.
It took a great joint effort to successfully continue the event, to keep it /beating to its energetic rhythm, bringing joy to all the music lovers in Montenegro, but we have succeeded.
Over thirty programs throughout April, concerts and tours of local and international artists, photo exhibitions and promotions of new talents, jazz workshops, movie screenings…
Under the general motto, The Spirit and Rhythms of Jazz, we gathered our crew: young Montenegrin musicians like Enes Tahirovic, having a debut on the stage as a
jazz pianist; guitarist and composer Filip Gavranovic, promoting his new band in partnership with German singer Lara Lubbe; international rising star, Israeli pianist Shai Maestro and his trio; Swiss trio led by guitarist Franz Hellmuller (Hellmuller-Risso-Papaux Trio).
Music workshops will be facilitated by jazz doyen Zlatko Kaučič who celebrates his 60thbirthday this year by performing on numerous stages in the region and over the rest of the world.
Along with the concerts, movie cycles in several different cities are well worth attending. Moreover, a very popular photo exhibition Serbian Jazz Bre! by the Belgrade-based art photographer Ivan Grlić, featuring prominent Serbian jazz musicians, will be available for viewing in several galleries in Podgorica.
